It’s been about 20k miles since I bought my Tacoma, and I’ve taken it all over the East Coast. I have found some super helpful accessories on Amazon that have made this great car even more comfortable. Below is my list of must-have Tacoma accessories for under $40.
Storage
A good truck needs to maximize storage space, and to do that, you need to be able to effectively organize. Here are some purchases I made to help me organize more gear.
Before this purchase, your center console is just one giant bucket. Afterward, you have 6 separate compartments.
A similar concept as the center console divider. Without this, your glove box is just a jumbled mess. With it, you have multiple compartments to separate your stuff.
Use this to store lighters, your vehicle manual, and electronics like a radar detector.
Going back to the center console, this small tray on top lets you throw some stuff in on top. The downside is you have to awkwardly remove the tray when you want to get into the compartment below it.
Use it to store change and random papers and receipts.
Seat Back Organizer
2 for $22
These pockets are a game-changer for your truck storage. They give you about 12 additional compartments to carry gear. A majority of my gear is stored in these seatback pockets.
Use these to store extra masks, sunscreen, bug spray, an extra dog leash.
This attaches to your sun visor and gives you several quick to access pockets.
Use this to store an extra credit card, your registration and insurance info, key cards, or a pocket knife.
Sunglass Clip
$11
There’s only room for one pair of sunglasses in the dedicated sunglass holder by the rearview mirror, but it’s nice to have extras, especially if your wife always forgets to bring her own.
Throw this on your passenger’s sun visor to store a few extra pairs of shades.
Protect your investment:
Here are a few small accessories to keep your Tacoma looking fresh as new.
Seat Covers
$34
If you have dogs, these seat covers are a lifesaver. They will protect your seats from claw marks, mud, sand, and liquid damage. You won’t hesitate before throwing taking the dogs with you on your next trip. If they are muddy as hell afterward, no problem. Just throw the cover in the washer, and it is as good as new.
These little rubber inserts can help to keep your cup holders and other little compartments from gathering gunk and dirt. When you clean your car, just take these out, spray them down, and replace them. It is generally easier than scrubbing inside your cup holders.
Cargo:
Improve your cargo carrying experience with these small items.
Cargo Net
$35
If you don’t have a Tonneau cover and want to carry a lot of gear, you’ll want to make sure you have something to stop it from blowing out of your bed, as well as keeping your cargo safe and maximizing your carrying capacity.
Shovel
$21
You never know when you may a shovel may come in handy when camping, like when you have to poop in the woods (not kidding). This little guy works great and folds up to easily store in your bed.
Popmount
$30
This little mount will give your cell phone a very comfortable home on your dashboard. It is super adjustable so it can move in a wide variety of positions. With a Popsocket installed on your phone, your phone will slip right in. I use the PopWallet Plus that gives me a detachable Wallet and a pop socket.
On long road trips, my neck often gets a little strained because there is nowhere to rest my head back and relax. The Tacoma head rest just isn’t comfortable; in fact, it’s barely even usable. This pillow adds enough padding to the back of your head rest to relax your neck and sit back.
